The big match: Porto vs Arsenal

Preview: Porto vs Arsenal

The Gunners travel to Porto for the most important CL match of this season. With a draw or win, we will be in the last 16, heading towards the final again. A draw will allow both team to qualify for the next round while a defeat coupled with a win for CSKA will force the loser to join the loser cup. ( i.e. UEFA Cup).......

Henry is out for at least a month with his neck problem. This will raise questions of who will be playing upfront and leading the hunt for goals. Personally, the more physical approach of Adebayor should be preferred to RVP. Or even better, we should play 2 upfront so as to make the Portugese defend more. Well, ATTACK is the best form of Defend......

Porto is hitting form at the moment with 3 wins in the last 3 CL matches.. They are also sitting 5 points clear at the top of the Portugese league, with their most recent win of 2-0 over Boavista...

However, Arsenal is upbeat with the most recent 3-0 win in the local derby and Stand -in captain Gilberto has declared that we are ready.!!!

Go Gunners!!! Expert pick for the match is 1-0 to Arsenal.
I hope we can go on to win the next 15 matches as I boldly predicted........

Polonium traces found at Arsenal soccer stadium (Source: NZ Herald)

British investigators have found minute traces of polonium 210, the radioactive isotope that killed former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, at a London soccer stadium, a public health spokeswoman said today.

The traces were found at the stadium of English Premier League club Arsenal.

"Minute quantities (of polonium) were found at barely detectable levels at localised areas," said Health Protection Agency spokeswoman Katherine Lewis. "There is no risk to public health."

British police are in Moscow investigating Litvinenko's death in a case that has strained ties between Britain and Russia since the exiled former spy on his death bed accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of ordering his assassination.

Litvinenko died in a London hospital on November 23 from a lethal dose of polonium 210 after falling ill on November 1.

One of the men British police want to question in Russia is Andrei Lugovoy who travelled to London on October 31 with his wife and three children to watch CSKA Moscow play Arsenal in a Champions League game on November 1.

He met Litvinenko at a London hotel earlier the same day.

Arsenal Football Club (also known as Arsenal, The Arsenal or The Gunners) are an English professional football club based in north London. They play in the FA Premier League and are one of the most successful clubs in English football. Arsenal have won thirteen First Division and Premier League titles, ten FA Cups and in 2005–06 became the first London club to reach the UEFA Champions League final. Arsenal are also members of the G-14 group of leading European football clubs.

Arsenal were founded in Woolwich, south-east London, in 1886, but in 1913 they moved north across the city to Arsenal Stadium, Highbury. In May 2006 they left Highbury, moving to their current home, the Emirates Stadium in nearby Ashburton Grove, Holloway. Arsenal have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with neighbours Tottenham Hotspur, located four miles away in Tottenham, whom they play in the North London derby.
